Hebe 'Liz', part of the RHS 'Plants for Pollinators' collection, is an easy growing evergreen shrub that will produce a compact bush of attractive, variegated cream and green foliage. This softly coloured foliage forms the perfect backdrop for its pretty purple summer flowers, attracting bees and butterflies to your garden.
Reaching a height and spread of approximately 60cm, this shrub is perfect for growing among busy summer borders or flower beds and looks right at home in both informal cottage gardens and city or courtyard gardens. It can also be used as a patio or container plant and is perfect for planting on harsher banks and slopes.
It is able to handle a range of soils but will grow best in poor to moderately fertile, neutral to alkaline, well-drained soil. Plant in a position of full sun or partial shade with shelter from cold drying winds. Keep an eye out for aphids, leaf spot and downy mildew. Remove spent flowers head to prolong flowering and maintain its charming summer display.
