Hebe 'Joan Mac' is a compact, rounded, evergreen shrub that produces distinct, glossy, dark purple foliage that provides fantastic interest and contrast for your garden, all year round. A member of the RHS Plants for Pollinators collection, this Hebe also produces beautiful, contrasting, bright pink flowers that will create a lovely summer display and attract bees and other pollinators to your garden.
Reaching full maturity and height in between 5 and 10 years, this shrub is perfect for filling out a low maintenance flower border or bed and can be used in both informal cottage gardens or city and courtyard gardens. Growing to a height and spread of around 60cm, it can also be used as a patio or container plant.
It will grow best in poor to moderately fertile, neutral to alkaline, well-drained soil. Plant in a position of full sun or partial shade with shelter from cold drying winds. Keep an eye out for aphids, leaf spot and downy mildew. Remove spent flowers head to prolong flowering and maintain its charming summer display.
