An enchanting and tropical delight, Grevillea johnsonii has an open and feathery growing habit, needle-like green leaves and an abundance of curled pink flowers that form together into elegant clusters.
Also known as Johnson’s Spider Flower, it will thrive in protected and sunny spaces around the garden, adding a touch of tropical flare that is incredibly tactile and unusual. It is a wonderful addition to textured planting schemes alongside a range of plants including ornamental grasses or paired with other drought tolerant flowers such as lavender.
Plant Grevillea johnsonii in sunny borders, rockeries and gravel gardens or admire it in a sensational container display as a specimen plant on a patio area. A moderately hardy variety it will require protection from frost, so planting it in a container has the added benefit of being easy to transfer to a greenhouse or conservatory over winter. If planted in the ground, protecting it with a layer of mulch and fleece will shield it from frost.
