A lovely perennial that adds striking purple-blue hues to the summer garden, Geranium × johnsonii 'Johnson's Blue' is a worthy addition to a wide range of outside spaces. Also known as Cranesbill ‘Johnson’s Blue’, it is a hardy and drought tolerant addition that will effortlessly cover large areas, suppressing weed growth.
Perfect for planting as ground cover to fill gaps in your flower beds and borders, it is also a wonderful companion to a wide variety of shrubs including roses, perfectly hiding the woody stems. It works well in a range of low maintenance spaces such as wildlife gardens and rockeries or in a large container to admire throughout the summer season and will thrive with minimal care.
In addition to its wonderful ornamental appeal, this perennial is an excellent choice for attracting bees and other pollinators into your garden, which has been recognised by the Royal Horticultural Society who added it to their Plants for Pollinators Collection.
To get the best display from your Geranium × johnsonii 'Johnson's Blue', plant it in moist but free draining soil. Regularly remove the old flowered stems and leaves throughout the season to encourage new growth and keep it looking at its best.
