Garland Hydrangea 'Runaway Bride', also known as 'Snow White', has a profusion of pretty lacey-white petals, coupled with glossy green foliage. Flowering profusely throughout the summer, it also flowers from lateral buds, not just the tips, making it unlike other hydrangeas and creating a wonderful display to enjoy throughout the season.
Named 2018 Chelsea Flower Show Plant of the Year, Garland Hydrangea Runaway Bride has an elegant growth habit and is ideal for large pots, containers or very large basket displays. This hardy shrub is perfect for admiring on patios, balconies, terraces or garden beds and does well in semi-shady areas of the garden.
This shrub can reach up to a metre in diameter and height. Pruning isn't necessary, but if you do need to cut it back, then we recommend pruning after the full flush of flowers. After the full flush of flowers, this hydrangea grows lots of fresh new shoots from the base, which are new 'garlands' for the following year. To get the best display, plant it in rich compost and regularly water to keep the soil moist, it will also benefit from regular fertiliser applications.
