A prolific summer to autumn flowering shrub, Fuchsia ‘Mrs Popple’ has a profusion of purple and red flowers that hang elegantly from its slender branches. A gardeners’ favourite, this variety combines award-winning reliability with exceptional beauty.
With a cascade of vivid purple and red flowers, it has strong upright and slender growth with small densely packed green leaves that highlight the vibrancy of the flowers and create a lush display. It looks wonderful in flowerbeds and borders, as well as large containers and can even be grown as an informal flowering hedge. In addition to looking great, the wonderful flowers are a magnet for bees and butterflies which has been recognised by its inclusion in the Royal Horticultural Society Plants for Pollinators Collection.
A much-loved variety, it adds a touch of exotic appeal while still being robust and reliable to grow with excellent resistance to pests and disease with consistently healthy growth. This has been recognised by the Royal Horticultural Society who have given it their prestigious Award of Garden Merit.
To get the best display from your Fuchsia ‘Mrs Popple’, plant it in a sheltered spot with full sun or dappled shade. It prefers moist but free draining soil and may need protection during very cold winters. Regularly deadhead the spent flowers to encourage new buds to form.
