Also known as ‘Yellow Crown Imperial’, Fritillaria imperialis ‘Lutea’ is a regal and imposing plant with strong stems that reach up to 90cm tall. It has incredible bright yellow flowers, hanging below a crown of short green leaves to create a wonderful feature.
This wonderful perennial is ideal for adding height and drama to a spring border amongst other flowering plants or allow it to naturalise in wild gardens, rockeries or under shrubs.
To get the best from your Fritillaria imperialis ‘Lutea’, position the bulbs in a partially shaded position, around 15cm deep in the soil, allowing space for the flowers to bloom. Ensure that the soil is free draining by using plenty of grit, as they are vulnerable to rotting when they sit in wet soil. They are fully hardy and can be left undisturbed for many years.
