How to plant
Garlic requires free draining, fertile soil and a bright sunny position. Dig over the soil to remove any weeds and apply a general-purpose fertiliser to improve yields.
Break the bulb into cloves and plant individual cloves 3cm/1″ deep and 10cm/4″ apart.
How to harvest
Lift the garlic out as the leaves start to die down around mid-summer. Leave them on the surface to ripen for a few days and then store in a light airy position that is dry and frost-free.
