The Fagus sylvatica Tree, also known as the Common Beech, is a wonderful tree that has a mature height of up to 30 metres, creating a beautiful canopy with its ridged foliage.
The young foliage emerges mid-green and has delightful silvery hairs that are soft to touch. As the leaves mature, its tiny green fluffy flowers gradually turn to tiny bristling fruits, that become woody once they have been pollinated. In autumn the foliage transforms into its magnificent golden copper hues, that cover the wonderful canopy.
This tree is also reliable and easy to grow and has received the prestigious Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit in recognition of its consistent and healthy growth.
