Known also as 'Bleeding Heart', Dicentra spectabilis 'Alba' is an incredible and distinctive perennial that produces arching sprays of dainty, pure-white, heart-shaped flowers, appearing from late spring through to August.
This showstopper is perfect for shaded borders or woodland gardens and will excel when planted among other perennials such as hosta, astilbe, pulmonaria or ferns, that can fill in the space left by its foliage when dormant.
Aim to plant between March and June in a position of partial shade and into soil that is moist but well-draining with a good amount of humus.
A mulch in the autumn with organic matter is advisable. The plants like to be left undisturbed and will naturalise well.
