Dahlia Border 'Zingaro' (1 tuber)

Dahlia 'Zingaro' is a delightful and subtle decorative dahlia variety that produces fully double rows of soft pink petals that blend into yellow at their centre, edged with a fine margin of dark pink. These gorgeous petals surround a central bud of dark magenta that contrasts excellently with the yellow core of each petal.

When it comes to planting and maintaining a Dahlia 'Zingaro', it is quite easy to do. This plant prefers well-drained soil and full sun, so it is important to choose a location that meets these requirements. To plant the tuber, simply dig a hole approximately 15cm/6" deep place it in the hole with the "eye" facing upwards. Cover it with soil and water well.

Once planted, it will begin to grow quickly. The plant can reach up to 4 feet tall and will bloom from late summer through to the first frost. As the plant grows, it may need to be staked to prevent it from falling over. Regular watering and fertilising will also help to keep the plant healthy and encourage more blooms.

For early flowering, tubers may be started off in boxes from March onwards. Use a light soil that is mixed with peat, keeping it slightly moist. Keep boxes cool and free of frost and plant sprouted tubers when the danger of frost has passed.

To ensure that your Dahlia 'Zingaro' will come back year after year, it is important to dig up the tubers in the autumn before the first frost. Allow them to dry out for a few days and then store them in a dry, cool place until the following spring.
