The Prunus domestica ‘Czar’ Plum Tree is an award-winning variety that produces a reliable and heavy crop of delicious plums that are perfect for making jams, preserves, pies and a wide variety of culinary dishes.
In addition to its delicious fruit, this tree has wonderful large white flowers that cluster together and adorn the tree in spring to create a magnificent eye-catching display. The blooms are also loved by bees and other pollinators which has been recognised by the Royal Horticultural Society who have added it to their Plants for Pollinators Collection.
As the flowers fade the fruit starts to grow in its clusters and ripen to wonderful purple hues. The depth of colour against the glossy oval shaped foliage looks beautiful, to create a pleasing display for your garden.
This easy to grow and reliable plum tree is well suited to the UK climate but grows best in a sheltered position to ensure that the blooms are protected.
The 'Czar' Plum Tree is available on Myrobalan rootstock which is a semi-vigorous to vigorous rootstock. It is suitable for most soils and exposed sites and grows to an ultimate height of approximately 4.5 metres in 10 years. The rootstock controls the rate of growth and ensures the tree fruits earlier than when grown on its own roots.
