Common Snowdrops (Galanthus Nivalis) are a classic flower that announces the end of winter. Adding a touch of colour to the garden when other flowers are dormant, Snowdrops bloom with delicate white flowers with a honey scent, growing from small green stems with silvery-green leaves.
This variety received the Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit marking its excellent reliability, consistency and disease or pest resistance. It is also part of the RHS Plants for Pollinators collection due to its appeal to bees and other pollinators.
These flowers are perfect for planting in large drifts on a lawn where they will happily naturalise for years to come. They can also be planted in small groups at the front of a mixed border, or in a pot or container on a patio or table to be enjoyed close up. The bulbs are exceptionally hardy and will survive whatever weather the UK winter will throw at them.
Plant these bulbs around 10cm deep into the soil. Be sure to plant them as soon as possible to avoid them drying out. If planting in grasses, it is best to let the leaves die back completely before mowing the lawn.
