Add striking flowers and foliage to your garden with the unforgettable shrub, Ceanothus ‘Blue Sapphire’. Also known as a Californian Lilac, it has large clusters of dark lavender-blue flowers almost completely covering its dark green glossy foliage from June until October.
With a bushy growing habit, it is perfect for adding vibrancy and form to a range of garden spaces and can be used as ground cover or to fill gaps in your flowerbeds and borders. It is well-suited to cottage gardens and small spaces but will also thrive in woodland areas and wildlife gardens.
It looks attractive throughout the year with its long-lasting ornamental features but is also a great choice for attracting bees and pollinators into your garden. This has been recognised by the Royal Horticultural Society who have added it to their Plants for Pollinators Collection.
Low maintenance and reliable to grow, plant Ceanothus ‘Blue Sapphire’ in moist but free draining soil, in a bright and sunny spot. To keep it looking at its best, prune it back after flowering and you will then enjoy many years of wonderful, colourful flowers.
