With vibrant violet-blue flowers and dark black eyes the Anemone coronaria (De Caen Group) 'Mr. Fokker' creates a stunning effect, appearing in spring over finely dissected foliage.
These striking dark flowers work perfectly planted at the front of sun-trapped borders, in patio containers and pots, or for using as ground cover as the low-growing foliage creates a green carpet. Alternatively, plant these bulbs in natural-looking drifts amongst ornamental grass.
Also known as the Florists' Anemone, this flower works extremely well as a cut flower in arrangements around the home and when planted en masse, will provide a constant supply for a few weeks.
Prior to planting, anemone bulbs should be soaked in warm water overnight. These 'Mister Fokker' bulbs should be planted around 5cm deep and 15cm apart from September to November, or (for later flowers in spring) February to April. If possible, leave the plants undisturbed and they will naturalise and spread over the years.
