Allium ‘Sphaerocephalon’ bulbs, also know as Allium 'Drumsticks', grow a striking flower head that starts with light green buds that then matures to deep pink-red, and eventually blooms into delicate flowers in late summer.
These bulbs are the perfect choice for planting in drifts, or adding to borders and flower beds, and have the added benefit of flowering slightly later than other Alliums in July and August.
These bulbs are best suited to being planted with mixed perennials in a sun-trapped border or scattered amongst a gravelled area of the garden. They also work wonderfully grown in a rock garden or open field, in a pot on a sunny patio, or cut and used in a vase indoors.
Be aware that these flowers bloom later than most Alliums, in July and August as opposed to June time. A suggestion would be to plant these bulbs around 8cm deep in natural drifts.
