Gates is one of the largest independent destination garden centres in the UK, established in 1948 and continually growing and developing in response to customer demand and market trends. We have a team of around 300 people working at our flagship Garden Centre in Cold Overton near Oakham and our recently opened Woodlands Hinckley Garden Centre in Stapleton, near Hinckley. Our team carry out a wide range of roles across Garden Centre Retail, Operations, eCommerce, Marketing and Administration. Our team is expanding fast and it is an exciting time to join us.

Retail Seasonal Security Guard
Gates Oakham| Part Time| Temporary
We currently have a vacancy at Gates Oakham for a temporary Retail Security Guard to work during our Christmas period. Working weekends (both days) and a few shifts in the week, each week up until Christmas.
Duties include acting as a visual deterrent, dealing with and responding to incidents, and completing any necessary paperwork and reports. Excellent customer service skills are essential, as is the ability to communicate well on all levels. You must be confident and robust in dealing with potentially volatile situations, whilst having the ability to remain polite and calm.
This is a key role within our team, and the ideal candidate must be a team player; as well as being vigilant, trustworthy and reliable. All candidates must be smart in appearance and have a flexible approach to working days and times.

Children Entertainer - Father Christmas
Gates Oakham & Gates Woodlands Hinckley| Part Time| Temporary
It’s that magical time of year again, and we’re looking for our very own Father Christmas to join us this Christmas, from 28th November to 24th December.
If you’re full of festive cheer, have a naturally jolly personality, feel confident stepping into character and love entertaining children, we’d love to hear from you!
You’ll be helping us create truly magical memories for families through our Dining with Santa experiences:
- Breakfast with Santa – 8.30am / 9.00am
- Dinner with Santa – 5.00pm
Events run Monday to Saturday, with part-time positions available on a rota basis.
A real beard is definitely a bonus! Costume will be provided.
