A stunningly brilliant dahlia variety, Dahlia Decorative ‘Seattle’ is a dazzling and bright feature that will enhance any summer garden. Dahlias are known for their large, showy blooms that come in a variety of colours, including red, pink, and yellow. The ‘Seattle’ variety is particularly striking, fully double yellow petals, dipped in white on the tip of each petal. The flowers can grow up to 20cm/8″ in diameter, making it a perfect choice for a focal point in your garden or as a cut flower for your home.
The ‘Seattle’ dahlia is a tuberous perennial, meaning it will come back year after year if properly cared for. It is a relatively easy plant to grow, making it a great choice for both experienced and novice gardeners. To plant the tuber, simply dig a hole in well-draining soil approximately 15cm/6″ deep, place the tuber in the hole with the sprouts facing up, and cover with soil. Water well and keep the soil consistently moist until the plant begins to sprout.
Once established, the ‘Seattle’ dahlia requires regular watering and fertilizing to keep it healthy and blooming. It prefers full sun, but can tolerate partial shade. It can also benefit from staking or support as the plant grows taller and the blooms become heavier. Deadheading (removing spent flowers) will also encourage the plant to produce more blooms.
In addition to its visual appeal, the ‘Seattle’ dahlia is also a great choice for attracting pollinators to your garden. Its large, colourful blooms are irresistible to bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds, making it a valuable addition to any wildlife-friendly garden. With proper care and maintenance, the ‘Seattle’ dahlia will provide a beautiful and vibrant display of colour in your garden for many seasons to come.
