Our large and ever popular Garden Restaurant features an outdoor terrace where you can sit and enjoy the views of Leicestershire countryside, there’s no better location on a warm afternoon, and on cooler days enjoy the lovely ‘snug’ areas by the wood burners. The Garden Restaurant is comfortable and stylish, offering you the perfect environment in which to enjoy a hearty breakfast, to relax with a cup of coffee, share a tasty lunch with family and friends or treat yourself to a luxury afternoon tea.

We serve freshly made dishes using local and seasonal ingredients from our Farm Shop. Featuring Hambleton sausages, pork pie, ham and beef, all farmed locally, where seasonally allowed. Further local highlights include Thaymar Dairy Ice Cream, created by Haughton Park Farm in Bothamsall, Nottingham using fresh milk, double cream, and only the finest natural ingredients.

Another popular choice is a local brew by traditional, Oakham based The Grainstore Brewery. Their English Cider made from 100% British apples, and Ten Fifty, an award-winning traditional ale.

Monday to Saturday: 9:00am – 6:30pm
(Last food orders at 4:00pm. Hot and cold drinks and a selection of cakes available until 6.30pm)
Sunday: 9:00am – 4.30pm

No Booking Required

We want everyone to enjoy a relaxed dining experience in our coffee shop and restaurant at Gates, so we offer a walk-in policy and don’t take table reservations. We will do our very best to accommodate you as quickly as possible.

Afternoon Tea

If you prefer something sweeter or are celebrating a special event, why not enjoy our famous Afternoon Tea, served from 2pm until 4pm Monday to Sunday. This includes a selection of finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones, clotted cream, preserve and homemade cakes – it’s the perfect excuse to indulge.

Sunday Lunch

On Sunday, come along to enjoy our popular traditional Sunday roast. Choose from a selection of delicious locally sourced meats or a tasty vegetarian nut-roast, served with all the trimmings.
