The ‘Happy Retirement’ shrub rose is an award-winning and exquisite variety from Whartons Roses, that has masses of light pink, fully double blooms that last through to autumn to create striking displays.
The wonderful light pink blooms on the ‘Happy Retirement’ shrub rose standout, as the outer ruffled petals appear in lighter pink shades. This draws your eye to the centre with its vibrant pink hues and sunny yellow stamen. A feast for the eyes and the nose, this rose also has a wonderful medium fragrance that won’t overpower.
In addition to this, it will repeatedly flower throughout the summer with wonderful healthy growth and glossy green foliage which accentuates the beauty of the roses. This healthy growth has been recognised by the Royal Horticultural Society, who gave it their prestigious Award of Garden Merit for its excellent pest and disease resistance in the garden. So, you have peace of mind that this rose will be enjoyed for many years to come.
With its attractive growth habit, and small mature height, this rose is a great choice for growing in a large pot or container, as well as adding to mixed borders or growing as a delightful floral hedge adding zoning and structure to garden designs.
The ‘Happy Retirement’ pink shrub rose is a hardy and tolerant variety that can be grown in poorer soils, if needed. However, to ensure you get the best floral display, it is worth planting your rose with some soil improver or well-rotted manure and adding a sprinkling of Mycorrhizal Fungi to encourage strong root growth. Position your rose in a bright and sunny spot, in moist but well-drained soil. You will then enjoy many years of magnificent floral displays.
