Tulip ‘Ballerina’ (18 bulbs)

The Tulipa ‘Ballerina’ (Lilyflowering Tulip) is a deep orange flower, with it’s outer petals emblazoned with fuchsia flames. The flower also features a fabulous scent that permeates when warmed by the sun.

These gorgeous flowers will appear throughout April and May, at an approximate mature height of around 45cm/18″.

These flowers are perfect planted in patio pots and containers to be enjoyed when sat out in the sun, at the front of sun-trapped flowering borders, or even as cut flowers for floral arrangements in the home – the smell of the tulip makes this a great option. They are also excellent for underplanting roses or growing through Muscari. If planting outside, be sure that the slender stems are sheltered from strong wind and rain to maintain the integrity of the flower.

A winner of the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit, ‘Ballerina’ tulips will grow in a wide range of different soils, so long as there is good drainage. They are fully hardy and feature substantial resistance to pests and disease.

Plant the bulbs 10cm deep in the soil and 10cm apart to leave room for the blooms to spread. Remove flower heads as they begin to fade and avoid repeatedly planting tulips in exactly the same spot that they have been grown in recent years.
