Tulipa ‘Flair’ is an exceptional, single early tulip that will grow cup-shaped, golden-yellow petals that are adorned with vivid ruby red feathering on the outside and in their centre.
‘Flair’ tulips are likely to flower in April and May with a very strong stem that can withstand wind and rain, reaching a height of around 35cm/14″.
These spring flowering bulbs will shine when planted at the front of colourful flower beds, in patio pots and containers, or in window boxes to be admired while indoors. For the best visual impact plant in groups of at least 10-15. Tulips will also excel as cut flowers in arrangements to be enjoyed around the home.
‘Flair’ tulip bulbs can be planted in a wide array of soil conditions, be it acidic, alkaline or neutral, so long as there is effective drainage. Try to find a position of full sun, in a place where tulips have not been grown in recent years, preferably protected from strong winds. Look to plant the bulbs around 10cm/4″ deep and 10cm/4″ apart.
Remove any flowers when they begin to fade and support with a top dressing of slow acting fertiliser, such as bone-meal, after planting to assist the flowering.
