Eye-catching and unusual, this showy annual makes a valuable border filler alongside other summer bedding or scattered amongst perennials. Carpets of narrow foliage with red-eyed, pink buttercup blooms, creating a spectacular display over a long period.
How to sow
Sow in spring where they are to flower in well cultivated soil. Sow thinly 6mm (¼in) deep in drills 30cm (12in) apart. Clarkias prefer a deep, rich soil and will grow in sun or part shade.
How to grow
Remove the flower heads as the petals fall to prolong flowering. Clarkias sown in late summer/autumn and overwintered in a frost free greenhouse make excellent spring/summer flowering pot plants.
