The Prunus avium ‘Sunburst’ Cherry Tree has gorgeous bright white flowers that cover the tree in spring, and glossy dark red and deliciously tasty cherries that are ready to enjoy from mid-summer. It also has beautiful red and orange foliage to admire in autumn, giving you a host of features to enjoy throughout the seasons.

These wonderful flowers not only look magnificent in spring, but they are a great way to attract bees and other pollinators into your garden. This has also been recognised by the Royal Horticultural Society who have added this Cherry Tree to their Plants for Pollinators Collection.

This tree is versatile and, depending on the rootstock, it can be used in a wide variety of garden spaces. From courtyard and city gardens using the Gisela rootstock, to wildlife gardens and larger outdoor spaces using the Colt rootstock.

To enjoy this ‘Sunburst’ Cherry Tree for many years, simply position it in a south or west-facing position, that is sheltered so that the blossoms are protected from a late frost. You will then have many years of wonderful blooms and delicious fruit.

The ‘Sunburst’ Cherry Tree is available on different rootstocks to suit a variety of gardens. The rootstock controls the rate of growth so you can choose one most suited to the area you wish to plant in. The rootstock also ensures the tree fruits earlier than when grown on its own roots.

Gisela is a semi-dwarfing rootstock that is suitable for smaller gardens. This rootstock grows to a mature height of 2.5m (8ft) after 10 years. Trees grafted onto Gisela tend to have better disease resistance and the ability to grow in a range of environments.

Colt is a semi-vigorous rootstock that is suitable for larger gardens where space is not an issue. This rootstock grows to a mature height of 3.5m (11ft) after 10 years. Trees grafted onto Colt also benefit from better drought resistance and improved resilience to disease.
