Soraya Second Early Seed Potatoes grow consistently high yields of oval shaped tubers with shallow eyes and a rich, distinctive flavour. Supplied in a 2kg bag, these seed potatoes are known to have excellent resistance to pests and disease and are the perfect choice for organic growers.

They are a versatile addition to a range of culinary dishes and are particularly delicious added to salads. They can be boiled, roasted, fried, chipped and more. With such high crop yields, it is also worth noting that these tubers store well to enjoy for several months after digging them up.

Planting Guide

Soraya Second Early Seed Potatoes should be planted outside from March onwards, 10cm deep and 20cm apart in a line, leaving at least 30cm between lines to allow growing space.

Prior to planting, encourage Seed Potatoes to sprout by placing them on a cool, bright windowsill for 4-6 weeks. This process is known as ‘chitting’ and will help to prepare the potato tuber for going in the ground.

Once planted, ‘earth up’ the potatoes by drawing the soil up around new shoots to protect them from frost damage and prolong the growing time. Earthing up also protects developing potatoes from sunlight which causes them to turn green and poisonous. Keep potatoes well-watered during warm weather.

Harvesting Guide

When ready to harvest, cut back haulms (plant stalks) to ground level before gently lifting the plant up with a garden fork.

Carefully remove the potatoes from the plant and wash well before using in the kitchen.
