Rocket Seed Potatoes are an easy to grow and extremely early harvesting variety that produces ample, uniform, round, white skinned potatoes with a firm but waxy white flesh giving a good mild flavour.

They are ideal for growing in pots and containers but also grow well under cover and are quick to produce ‘baby new potatoes’.

With their high yields, Rocket Seed Potatoes can be harvested early around late May or Early June and are particularly well known for their good disease resistance, especially against golden eelworm.

This pure white new potato can also be used to accompany Summer salads and can be enjoyed hot or cold.

How to plant

Rocket First Early planting potatoes should be planted outside in March, 10cm deep and 20cm apart in a line, leaving at least 30cm between lines to allow growing space.

Before planting, place seed potatoes on a cool, bright windowsill for 4-6 weeks to encourage them to sprout. This process is known as ‘chitting’ and will help prepare the potato tuber for going in the ground.

Once planted, ‘earth up’ the potatoes by drawing the soil up around new shoots to protect them from frost damage and prolong the growing time. Earthing up also protects developing potatoes from sunlight which causes them to turn green and poisonous. Keep potatoes well watered during warm weather.

How to harvest

When ready to harvest, cut back the stalks to ground level and then gently lift the plant up with a garden fork.

Carefully remove the potatoes from the plant and wash well before using them in the kitchen.
