The ‘Honey Gold’ Peony is a floriferous peony that produces large creamy white guard petals surrounding a proud centre of golden-yellow petaloids. As it matures, the honey golden heart thickens out, becoming more and more double creating a full, beautiful display.
Blooming heavily in late spring to early summer, this peony will flower for around seven to ten days, depending on the weather. It will grow a thick, bushy mound of glossy, dark-green foliage, reaching up to 90cm tall and with a spread of around 60cm.
Grown in-house at Gates Garden Centre, these ‘Honey Gold’ Paeonies make excellent cut flowers with a vase life of over a week. They are perfect when planted as a specimen plant or in groups for borders and beds in city or informal cottage gardens. They are also ideal for bordering a path or driveway and as an informal hedge.
Plant in a position of sun or partial shade, away from trees or shrubs as peonies don’t like to compete for food and moisture. Plant in humus rich soil and water in well.
These elegant peonies combine brilliantly with roses, bearded irises and other strikingly coloured perennials.
