Outdoor Potato Growing Bag

The Outdoor Potato Growing Bag is a handy addition to any garden and is perfect for small garden spaces.

It can comfortably fit three seed potatoes inside its 40-litre capacity and is ideal for growing potatoes on patios or balconies, where space is limited. It is made from durable and reusable material, and is suitable for using in all weathers.

After harvest, this potato growing bag can be folded and stored away ready for next year.

Planting Guide

Prior to planting, encourage Seed Potatoes to sprout by placing them on a cool, bright windowsill for 4-6 weeks. This process is known as ‘chitting’ and will help prepare the potato tuber for going in the compost.

Once ready, fill the Potato Growing Bag two thirds full with compost, then place 3 Seed Potatoes evenly apart on top of the compost. Cover the potatoes with 10cm of compost and water in well.

As the plants begin to grow keep them covered compost until the bag is full. ‘Earthing up’ the potatoes by covering them will ensure developing potatoes are not exposed to sunlight turning green and poisonous.

Main Crop Seed Potatoes will do well from a nitrogen based fertiliser, such as liquid seaweed, applied during the growing season.

Once ready to harvest, the plants can be lifted from the bag and potatoes carefully separated. Wash well before use in the kitchen.
