- 1 x Outdoor Potato Grow Bag
- 40 litre capacity
- Space to plant 3 Seed Potatoes (not included)
- 300mm x 300mm x 450mm
Prior to planting, encourage Seed Potatoes to sprout by placing them on a cool, bright windowsill for 4-6 weeks. This process is known as ‘chitting’ and will help prepare the potato tuber for going in the compost.
Once ready, fill the Potato Grow Bag two thirds full with compost, then place 3 Seed Potatoes evenly apart on top of the compost. Cover the potatoes with 10cm of compost and water in well.
As the plants begin to grow cover them each time until the bag is full. ‘Earthing up’ the potatoes by covering them will ensure developing potatoes are not exposed to sunlight and turn green and poisonous.
Main Crop Seed Potatoes will do well from a nitrogen based fertiliser, such as liquid seaweed, applied during the growing season.
Once ready to harvest, the plants can be lifted from the bag and potatoes carefully separated. Wash well before use in the kitchen.
