Grape Hyacinth ‘Peppermint’ (Muscari Armeniacum) is a clump forming bulbous perennial that grows small ice blue flowers, each with a fine white lip, that form in conical spikes. These flower spikes bloom in March and April, rising above slender, strap-shaped foliage.
This stunning, scented plant is wonderful when allowed to form generous swathes, particularly in a woodland or meadow-style garden. It is also ideal for patio pots, window boxes and alpine beds. Muscari flower for a long time so they are excellent when planted with other bulbs, especially when grown amongst daffodils.
Plant these bulbs around 5cm deep in the soil, with approximately 10cm between each bulb to allow space for the flowers to spread. It is recommended that the bulbs are fed with slow releasing fertiliser if planted in pots. During summer when the bulbs are dormant lift and divide groups that are becoming congested.
