Lilium ‘Asiatic Madras’ is sure to brighten any day with its stunning and bright yellow flowers and deep green foliage, making them the perfect lily for an uplifting summer border or pot.
These striking lilies are very easy to plant and maintain and would make an ideal addition to a summer garden alongside some contrasting lilies such as the ‘Purple Prince’ or ‘Elegant Joy’.
The ‘Asiatic Madras’ is a bulbous perennial that is able to flower for several years and should be able to naturalise in a border or bed.
These bulbs should be planted between February and June in a heavy but well drained soil with a healthy supply of humus such as John Innes No.2 Compost. Plant the bulbs 15cm deep and at least 30-40cm apart. Due to the ability of these bulbs to grow up to 100cm tall they may need to be staked in order to prevent drooping. These lilies should be expected to bloom between July and August and ideally they should be deadheaded and cut back once the flowers fade and the foliage begins to turn.
