Join us and the Leicestershire & Rutland Beekeepers Association and Learn about Bee Keeping on Saturday 22nd June. We have two workshops available, starting at 10:30am and 2pm.

The 90-minute presentation is perfect for those who are considering keeping bees, or who are just enchanted by these gorgeous creatures and want to learn more about them. Mike Petty, Trustee of the LRBKA, will explain the lifecycle of the bee, how a hive operates and the importance of pollination plus all about the enigmatic Queen Bee.

Weather and bees permitting, also on display will be an observation hive, which is a beehive with large sides made of glass. Visitors can watch the bees at work in complete safety and with no need for protective clothing.

The informal Bee Keeping event will be held in the Gates Garden Restaurant, Thornton Suite. There will be time for a chat with Mike and a Q&A session.

As with all our events, there will be hot drinks and a selection of delicious hand-made Gates cakes.

Can I cancel my booking and receive a refund?

If you need to cancel your booking more than 48 hours in advance of your session, we will arrange for a full refund to be issued to you via the original payment method.

If you are unable to attend your session for any reason and can’t tell us more than 48 hours in advance, but you do advise us before the session start time, a member of our team will arrange a Gates Gift Voucher to the value of your cancelled booking, to be used either in the Garden Centre, Garden Restaurant or the Courtyard Coffee Shop.
