Johnsons Cucumber Socrates F1 Seeds

Johnsons Cucumber Socrates F1 Seeds are an ‘all female’ variety that are best grown in a greenhouse or tunnel. Packed with important nutrients it produces lots of excellent quality bitter-free mini cucumbers.

Occasionally male flowers (those without a swelling behind the flower) may form, especially if plants become stressed. These should be removed as pollinated female flowers produce bitter fruits.

• When to sow: February to May
• Where to sow: In 7.5cm pots of seed compost
• How to sow: Sow singly into a pot edgeways and cover with 1.5cm of compost. Firm gently and keep moist. Cover with glass, polythene or propagator lid
• Care: Remove cover when seedlings appear. After 3-4 leaves have formed transplant 45cm apart in the greenhouse in beds, grow bags or large pots. Train up wires and remove growing point at roof level
• When to harvest: July to October
