Occasionally male flowers (those without a swelling behind the flower) may form, especially if plants become stressed. These should be removed as pollinated female flowers produce bitter fruits.

• Pack Contents: Approximately 5 seeds
• When to sow: February to May
• Where to sow: In 7.5cm pots of seed compost
• How to sow: Sow singly into a pot edgeways and then cover with 1.5cm of compost. Cover with glass, polythene or propagator lid.
• Care: Remove cover when seedlings appear. After 3-4 leaves have formed transplant 45cm apart in the greenhouse in beds, grow bags or large pots. Train up wires and remove growing point at roof level
