Hyacinthus orientalis ‘City of Haarlem’ is an upright bedding bulb featuring flowered spikes densely covered with starry, pale yellow florets forming a cylindrical cluster.

Reaching a height of around 25cm/10″, these ‘City of Haarlem’ bulbs will flower early in the spring for a bright and bold display that will expand over time as they naturalise.

Their large flower heads make them ideal for planting in pots or containers such as window boxes or alternatively at the front of an early spring flowering bed or border. They particularly excel when planted in clusters among other strongly coloured hyacinths such as ‘Peter Stuyvesant’ or ‘Miss Saigon’. Hyacinth also make for long lasting cut flowers with their powerful fragrance.

Hyacinth prefer a moist but well drained, acidic or neutral soil, in a position of full sun or partial shade. Plant the bulbs 15cm/6″ deep and 15cm/6″ apart.
