Kelkay Horticultural Potting Grit

Kelkay Horticultural Potting Grit is a lime free washed angular granite that can be used as a decorative dressing around cacti, succulents, alpines and rock gardens. It will also improve drainage in heavy soils and when mixed with compost – perfect for use in containers, pots and tubs.

When used in ponds and aquatic planting, this horticultural grit will prevent fish from stirring up the soil.

As this is a natural product, please expect some variance in colour, size and shape of the pieces.

Available in two bag sizes: handy and large packs.

Tips from the experts

• Mix 1 part loam to 1 part potting grit and 1 part leaf mould or coir as a planting mix for rock gardens
• For alpines & rock garden soil mix, add 4 parts garden soil or loam to 1 part potting grit
• Cover your pots or trays of sown seeds with a find sprinkle of grit to prevent drying out as your seeds germinate
