Alpine Mix Horticultural Grit is a mixture of white, orange, brown and cream coloured decorative stones which make a lovely top dressing for alpines, rock plants, cacti and succulents.
When mixed with compost this grit provides the optimal support for your potted plants by giving them excellent drainage, so they receive just the right quantity of water without becoming waterlogged. The coarse texture of this grit also encourages water to flow freely, so your plants’ roots don’t rot.
By providing improved aeration, this grit ensures your plants can absorb nutrients, breathe efficiently and therefore thrive.
Pots are also less likely to topple over in high winds when this grit is added.
As it is lime free, this grit can safely be used with a variety of plants, without affecting the soil’s pH.
