A member of the RHS Plants for Pollinators collection, Hebe ‘Heartbreaker’ is a rounded, compact, evergreen shrub, forming a neat mound of variegated green and cream leaves that will gradually turn a vivid pink as the weather gets colder. However, in the summer, this shrub will produces beautiful racemes of lavender flowers that will attract bees and pollinators to the garden.
Reaching its mature height and spread of 60cm in around 5 to 10 years, this versatile shrub can be used all around the garden. It is a useful plant for urban or coastal gardens and makes an excellent pot or container plant. It can also excel when planted among a summer border to add a splash of variegated colour and can even be used as an attractive low, informal hedge.
Try to plant in full sun or partial shade with shelter from cold drying winds. It can handle most soils but prefers being planted into alkaline or neutral soil that is moist but well drained. It is rarely affected by pests or disease and requires little maintenance.
