Hebe ‘Burning Heart’

Part of the RHS Plants for Pollinators collection, Hebe ‘Burning Heart’ is a compact, bushy, evergreen shrub with striking foliage that cycles in colour through the seasons. These leaves emerge in spring in a hot pink flush, turning into a variegated grey and cream as the leaves ripen, often maintaining a faint pink tint. It will also produce small spikes of lilac-purple flowers that appear from July to August.

Growing to a height and spread of approximately 75cm, this Hebe is perfect for both city and informal cottage gardens. Its low maintenance nature makes it perfect for patio pots or containers while the evergreen foliage can help to add some colour and structure to the middle or back of a flower bed or border.

Look for a position of full sun or partial shade with shelter from cold drying winds. It can handle most soils but will prefer being planted into alkaline or neutral soil that is moist but well drained. It is rarely affected by pests or disease, requiring little maintenance.
