Gladiolus Giant Flowering ‘Sweet Night’ is the perfect combination to brighten up any border with a stunning pairing of scarlet and white Gladioli.
These tall, striking perennials grow spires of vibrant blooms along each stem, with elegant sword-shaped leaves creating an idyllic display for summer borders. These bulbs can grow up to 120cm tall making them perfect when positioned at the back of a border where their taller flowers complement bushier plants.
These stunning blooms combined with their ease to grow make them a favourite for florists as cut flowers. We therefore recommend planting multiple groups of Gladiolus bulbs; some for garden display, others for cutting throughout the summer.
For best results, plant in clusters of five or more in a position of full sun. We recommend planting in two week intervals throughout March and into June, with each bulb 10cm deep and 10cm apart, in order to create a long-lasting succession of flowers all through the summer months. After the buds are formed, stake the stems around 5cm from the base, preventing damage to the bulbs. Gladioli need water during the growing period and mulching with peat or compost to conserve moisture.
