Gladioli Giant Flowering ‘Plum Tart’ – 10 bulbs

Gladioli Giant Flowering ‘Plum Tart’ is perfect for adding a punch of warm colour to a late summer border.

This deliciously colourful plum-purple gladioli produces velvety, vivid pink flowers with deep red centres and striking sword-shaped foliage. These perennials can be planted in drifts through the herbaceous or cottage border, interspersed with other rich purple or soft pink coloured flowers. These Gladioli also make for excellent cut flowers with their tall spires of bloom and easy to grow nature.

We recommend planting a few corms every 2 weeks until early summer for a continual display of flowers with an expected time to bloom of 70-90 days. For the best results, plant in clusters or drifts of five or more in a position of full sun with each bulb 10 cm deep and 10 cm apart. If possible separate groups of bulbs with some flowers saved for cutting throughout the summer and the rest for garden display.

After the buds have formed place canes or stakes at about 5 cm from the base of the stems, preventing damage to the bulbs. Gladioli need water during the growing period and mulching with peat or compost helps to conserve moisture.
