The Ginkgo biloba Tree, also known as the Fossil Tree or Maidenhair, is one of the oldest living tree species in the world. Celebrated for its wonderful mid-green fan-shaped leaves that transform into vibrant sunshine yellow shades in autumn, its large canopy creates a magnificent and dramatic focal point.
The large green fan-shaped leaves can be up to 12cm in width and gently hang from the tree – they look wonderful in all weathers, but glisten when the leaves catch the raindrops to create a sparkling effect.
As the tree matures the conical shape becomes more irregular to create a wonderful and unusual silhouette that looks magnificent when planted as a single specimen. It is worth taking the time to admire the ornamental features as they change through the seasons.
To get the most from this tree, simply plant it in a bright and sunny spot, in moist well-drained soil. You will then be rewarded with many years of spectacular displays.
