Enjoy distinctive purple and white bell-shaped flowers with this pack of 30 Fritillaria meleagris mixed ‘Snake’s Head Fritillary’ bulbs. The wonderful chequerboard markings and delicate shape are a welcome sight at the start of spring.
Also known as ‘Snake’s Head Lily’, it is a surprisingly easy-going and low-maintenance wildflower gem, that if positioned in the right spot will happily return year after year to create a magnificent display.
Fritillaria meleagris bulbs are versatile blooms that are ideal for naturalising in borders, grass, meadows and in light woodland shade. In addition to this they excellent in pots or as a cut flower to enjoy around the home.
These striking perennials grow up to 20cm/8″ tall and have attractive, thin, grey-green leaves. Fritillaries produce at least one or two flower heads and should be planted in clumps for maximum impact.
Plant bulbs in the ground or in containers from September to December for spring flowers in April and May. Try to plant bulbs approximately 8cm/3″ deep and 8cm/3″ apart.
