‘Egremont Russet’ Apple Tree is seen as one of the best russets available.

Eregmont Russet has a lovely nutty and sweet flavour which is ideal for enjoying fresh from the tree. Pale golden-brown in colour, the skin is rough and the flesh is crispy.

This apple was first recorded well over a century ago in Victorian England on the estate of the Earl of Egremont in Sussex. Ever since it has been one of the most recognisable English apples.

This apple is available in different rootstocks to suit a range of gardens. The rootstock controls the rate of growth so you can choose a rootstock suitable to where you would like to plant your tree. The rootstock also ensures the tree fruits earlier than when grown on its own roots.

M27, a Dwarf variety, is one of the smallest rootstocks available and a perfect choice for very small gardens and can be grown in large pots or containers. This rootstock grows up to a mature height of 2m (6ft) after 10 years.

M26, a Semi-Dwarf variety, is suitable for smaller gardens and where space is at a premium. This rootstock grows to a mature height of 2.5m (8ft) after 10 years.

MM106, a Semi-Vigorous variety, is commonly one of the largest rootstock available and is best suited to large gardens and where space is not an issue. This rootstock grows to a mature height of 3.5m (11ft) after 10 years.
