Delphinium ‘Guardian’ is a mid-sized, upright herbaceous perennial with sturdy flower spikes that are densely packed with double flowers of either blue, white or lavender.
A favourite of bumblebees, these flowers bloom for weeks from early to mid summer providing a dramatic and majestic display that is sure to draw attention.
Borne above a mound of divided, rich green foliage, these plants will eventually grow to a height of around 120cm and a spread of 30cm.
They are an excellent addition to beds and borders in cottage gardens and should ideally be planted in mixed groups. They are excellent as cut flowers and are attractive to hummingbirds and butterflies.
Fully hardy, this perennial can be left outside through the toughest of winters with no frost protection and should be positioned in a position of full or partial sun. Plant into moist but well drained, neutral, acidic or alkaline soil. Watch for aphids, earwigs, delphinium leaf miner, delphinium moth caterpillars, slugs, and snails.
