Delphinium ‘Guardian’ is a mid-sized, upright herbaceous perennial with sturdy flower spikes that are densely packed with double flowers of either blue, white or lavender.
A favourite of bumblebees and other pollinators, these flowers bloom for weeks from early to mid summer creating a dramatic and majestic display that is sure to draw attention. Growing above a mound of divided, rich green leaves, these plants will eventually grow to a height of around 120cm and a spread of 30cm.
They are an excellent addition to beds and borders in cottage garden displays and should ideally be planted in mixed groups. They are also excellent as fresh-cut flowers, adding florist-quality blooms to arrangements around the home.
Fully hardy and reliable to grow, Delphinium ‘Guardian’ will thrive in a position of full or partial shade, in moist but free draining soil. It can be left outside through the toughest of winters with no frost protection, returning year after year.
