Introduced at the 2025 Chelsea Flower Show, David Austin The King’s Rose™ is a captivating English shrub rose with striped semi-double flowers in wonderful fuchsia pink and white.
A wonderful way to attract bees and a range of other pollinators, the golden yellow stamens at the centre add the perfect finishing flourish to each flower. Each bloom produces an enchanting light-medium, musk fragrance that has hints of red apple and rose water.
This robust and reliable, repeat flowering rose produces a profusion of flowers, and has beautiful heart-shaped, rich green foliage. It has a striking vase-shaped growing habit and the added benefit of very few thorns. It also produces small rose hips that turn to warm orange and are a source of winter food for the birds.
It thrives planted in groups but is also a wonderful addition to mixed beds, where it can create a striking focal point or act as a seamless connection between colour schemes. Its open semi-double flowers look wonderful in cottage-style gardens, while its striking bi-colour blooms also make it an excellent addition to contemporary gardens.
David Austin The King’s Rose was bred by David Austin Roses, in partnership with The King’s Foundation and introduced at the 2025 Chelsea Flower Show. Following a conversation with HRH The Prince of Wales at Chelsea Flower Show in the 1990s, David Austin discovered they had both grown Ferdinand Pichard (a bi colour rose) as their first rose. Years later David Austin was struck by the beauty of this new rose and felt it captured the values of The King’s Foundation and His Majesty King Charles III lifelong commitment to nature, sustainability and heritage.

How to care for your rose
This beautiful English shrub rose thrives in all soil types and has excellent disease resistance. To ensure you get the best floral display, plant your rose with a sprinkling of Mycorrhizal Fungi for strong root growth and overall plant health. Whilst this rose is in flower, we suggest regularly deadheading to encourage new bud growth.
