David Austin Dannahue® is an exquisite upright and bushy shrub with elegant apricot-coloured flowers that are perfectly matched by its uplifting sweet fragrance that has notes of fresh apricots and zesty lemons.
This repeat flowering rose blossoms from late spring to early winter, and flourishes in containers, against walls or fences as well as in shadier areas making it the perfect choice for modern for a range of garden spaces. It will also make a statement in borders when grouped together with the same variety for an impressive display, that gets better as each year passes. It also has the added benefit of being a great way to attract bees and other pollinators into your outdoor space.
Introduced in 2023, the Dannahue shrub rose is named for British garden designer and TV presenter Danny Clarke. David Austin was inspired following a visit to the 2022 RHS Chelsea Flower Show garden, ‘Hands off Mangrove’ by not-for-profit Grow2Know. The garden was designed by Danny Clarke and Grow2Know founder, Tayshan Hayden-Smith which united two issues, social injustice and global deforestation. Moved by Danny’s motivation to make gardening accessible and inclusive, Dannahue which is Danny’s birth name, was chosen for this beautiful city dwelling rose.
