The Crocus tommasinianus ‘Whitewell Purple’ features violet petals that blend into a pale lilac at the centre, with golden and orange tones in the stigma and anthers.

This variety blooms early in spring and is great planted in tandem with other flowering plants to have flowers all season. The bulbs are perfect for scattering across a lawn and planting where they land, where they will spread and naturalise efficiently. They can also be planted in pots or containers on a sunny patio, in the front of borders or rockeries for colour at a low level, or in a window box to be admired from inside the home. If planting in a lawn, be sure to let the foliage completely die back before mowing.

Plant these bulbs 5cm deep in the soil and roughly 5cm apart from each other to allow space for the stems to bloom, in a position of full sun. Crocus bulbs can be subject to damage by mice and squirrels, so we recommend placing chicken wire on top of the bulbs before covering with soil.
