A captivating compact climber that adds wow-factor to fences, walls and trellises, Clematis ‘Ithemba’ is a large flowering variety that creates effortlessly long-lasting and eye-catching garden displays. Bred by the award-winning clematis grower, Raymond Evision, it is a premium quality variety that was released in 2026.
With enchanting flowers that have a large star-like, slightly ruffled shape, this is accentuated by a central streak of soft pink through each petal. In its centre, it has dazzling dark red filaments that contrast with the brightness of the petals.
A wonderful choice for maximising small spaces or for transforming dull fences, walls and trellises, it will grow a profusion of stunning blooms that last from May through to September – so you enjoy fabulous flowers for more than 100 days. It will flourish planted directly in the ground but is also an excellent addition to pots and containers, adding to its versatility around the garden.
Fully hardy and easy to grow, Clematis ‘Ithemba’ will flourish planted in a sunny or partially shaded position in free draining but moist soil. It prefers to have cool roots, so ideally add a layer of stones or mulch around the base after planting. In early spring prune before the new growth starts, deadhead and remove weak or damaged stems to keep it looking at its best.
