Camassia quamash (15 bulbs)

Camassia quamash (Camassia Esculenta) produces striking star-shaped purple-blue flowers with bright yellow stamens. These flowers grow from a tall sturdy stem with grey-green foliage that adds colour in late spring and early summer.

This plant is perfect for growing in unmown grasses or in wildflower meadows, and will happily naturalise wherever it is planted, if left undisturbed. Alternatively, scatter clusters of these bulbs along sunny borders in the garden to create points of interest, particularly where there is a dark backdrop to contrast the blue and yellow.

Plant these bulbs 8cm deep in soil and 15cm apart from each other to allow room for the flowers to grow efficiently. Camassia will grow in a wide range of soils provided there is good drainage. They like sunshine or partial shade and a good supply of humus such as leaf mould or compost.
