Buxus Sempervirens is a small leaved, tightly grown, evergreen box plant that will make fantastic topiary of all shapes. It can be grown to any size and will produce dark green, glossy foliage that is thick and present all year round. It will also grow small yellowish flowers in the spring.

Reaching full growth in approximately 20 years, this box hedging is perfect for formal city or informal country gardens. Annual trimming can keep it to a low height making it perfect for bordering paths or driveways. Alternatively it can be shaped as topiary and can be used to flank patios or doorways as a centre piece in planters and pots.

Known also as Boxwood or Common Box, it is fully hardy for UK climates and is very easy to grow and maintain. It should be planted in a position of full or partial sun, into moist but well drained, neutral, acidic or alkaline soil. Watch for box blight, leaf spot, box tree caterpillar, box sucker, mussel scale and red spider mites.

Propagate from semi-ripe cuttings in the summer and clip later into the summer for the perfect shaped topiary.
